2005: The year that was

It’s been a year since I started maintaining this blog. I started blogging on 2005-01-17. This is also my 100th post on this blog.

As i mentioned in this post I made earlier, one of the purposes of my blogging habit has been served. I have read up on my earlier entries, and know how exactly I have changed, and possibly why too. One of these days, I may be able to quantify these things.

Things I’ve done and found out this year, in no particular order:

  • My English grammar and vocabulary skills have reached a dangerous low
  • Patience pays
  • You can be depressed without you knowing it
  • Its a good thing to talk to friends
  • Its a good thing to be frank, even if it pisses off the other person
  • Graduate School is a great place to learn about your abilities, and deficiencies. both academic and non-academic
  • I know myself better than ever
  • I stood for my beliefs, when others around me said otherwise. Even when it was hurting me.
  • I would do it again
  • Never judge a book by the cover (Works both ways)
  • I’m addicted to learning, and hence Linux
  • I’m a liberal, and leaning more towards Minarchism
  • I’ve learnt that no political system is perfect, as it does not account for variability of the human mind.

There’s probably a lot more, but this is all I can think of right now.

About robotgeek

Rocker, philosopher, Mac lover, geek, robotics freak and an optimist. These describe me adequately, i guess! When I find time away from my lab, I love to code my robots using java to be compatible with robocode . I also make it a point to visit Slashdot or read on Wikipedia . Of course, all this has to be done while listening to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Metallica or Pearl Jam, mostly on Shoutcast online radio . I also like to read. Though I don't find much time now, I generally stick to what I like, which is Ayn Rand. Let's just hope the world heads in the right direction 2004 has been the year of the blog, and I could not be left out!

hey one of the courses i’m taking this quarter called ‘voluntary social systems’
explores the possibility and construct of a society based on the maxim that ‘Peaceful,
honest people have the right to be left alone’
    ‘Minarchism’ reminded me of that!

Yes, peaceful honest people have the right to be left alone. But are they going to be left alone? I doubt it.

interesting, but liberal minarchist seems a contradiction. modern day liberals fight for bigger government, more welfare, more taxes, but minarchy is quite the opposite. i’m glad to see there are liberals who aren’t completely nuts (jk, and no offense).
