Site Down,Ads

My site was inaccessible for about 2 days. I went over to the forums for my site host, and apparently, there was a DDos attack. So, they shut off the servers to rectify it. Now, it’s back again. yay!

Initially, this site was ad-free, then they included a banner (text, okie). Then, the put a java-script banner in addition to the text-banner (you only see the text-banner if you have java-script turned off (hint: turn off java-script if the second block of banners you see bothers you).

The service is free, so i guess it’s okay. I probably would want to register my own domain sometime when I have the money to pay for my own hosting. I would of course prefer to have my own server, ssh access and all. Frankly, it’s irritating to have to upload by ftp, and change the css/html code if you only have small additions to make.

Also, there is the issue of losing my site ranking, though i am not sure if using standard http redirect will help in maintaining the rank. Anybody with good ideas, please post a comment!

About robotgeek

Rocker, philosopher, Mac lover, geek, robotics freak and an optimist. These describe me adequately, i guess! When I find time away from my lab, I love to code my robots using java to be compatible with robocode . I also make it a point to visit Slashdot or read on Wikipedia . Of course, all this has to be done while listening to Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Metallica or Pearl Jam, mostly on Shoutcast online radio . I also like to read. Though I don't find much time now, I generally stick to what I like, which is Ayn Rand. Let's just hope the world heads in the right direction 2004 has been the year of the blog, and I could not be left out!
